Wagon receipts of cotton in Athens through January 19 exceeded last year’s wagon totals by several hundred bales while rail and wagon totals fell about twenty five hundred bales. Total receipts up to Jan 19 1910 were 94093 and 51659 in 1911 with wagon receipts 91298 and stock on hand 13904.
At Second Baptist Church Rev. H C Compton leads revival meetings as Dr. Winchester from Atlanta preaches powerful messages. Large crowds attend with growing intensity and officials hope to extend the series beyond Sunday into next week.
A peculiar want ad arrived at the Banner business office claiming a pig found in a sack on Lump eet. The owner may recover the sow by paying the advertisement fee at the Banner Office. The note describes a literal pig in a poke as a cautionary tale and includes unrelated product lines like Olive Cheese and Fox River shipments.
The Georgia team upset Auburn 26 to 24 after a tight first half 12-11 and a tense overtime. Captain Forbes and Ed Carter led Georgia’s defense while Majors and Scarborough starred for Auburn as officials kept roughness to a minimum.
Arnold and Abney offer pure cream cheese blended with finely ground walnuts. A tasty spread for sandwiches at 20 cents per jar.
The Clarke County city court will have its insolvent costs itemized by the clerk of the court. The board of county commissioners will act on settling the county against the solicitor clerk and sheriff. Regulation requires the county to pay court officer costs when defendants are found guilty and do not pay fines. When defendants pay fines, officers receive costs and fines go to the county. A balance remains on the old insolvent cost account of several hundred dollars to be determined, then wiped out, after which the city court is expected to be self supporting and provide income to the county even with civil jury work.
The second inter class football game at the University of Georgia will be played this afternoon on Herty field with a senior versus junior pick. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p m and the public is invited to attend and enjoy a spirited gridiron contest.
Death reaches Athens of Mrs. A B Brumby wife of late Prof Brumby former local teacher and mother of the late Lewis Brumby. Survived by four daughters Miss Mattie Brumby Miss Lillie Brumby Mrs Bealer and Mrs W H Quarterman Funeral plans to be announced in Sunday's Banner and remains to be brought to Athens for interment.

Commissioners present figures on a 35 acre county farm showing gross earnings of 2 335 88 and net earnings of 532 75 after expenses of 1 804 13. Produce on hand and savings for paupers total 1 343 00 with stock on hand of 542 00. Remaining farm work is handled by Commissioner Holman for road force needs.
In Athens two performers and their baby have been stranded for weeks after their last company disbanded. They cannot secure local bookings, owe a small board bill, and rely on charitable readers of the Banner to help. Contributions may be sent to the Banner office for relief.
Rev. J. C. C. Newton arrives in Athens on a year’s leave and will address local Methodists. He speaks to First Methodist children at 9:45 and preaches at 8 p.m. tomorrow. Pastor Rev. Dr. Troutman preaches at 11. At Oconee Street Church Newton preaches at 11 a.m. tomorrow for Rev. A. J. Sears.
Haughey's Orchestra performs at the Cafe Royal with shows set for the early afternoon. The program begins around 1:30 PM with a lively crowd expected to attend in the refined venue.
The Atlanta Carolina Railway announces officers M Mason president C W McClure vice president J Frank Beck treasurer M F Edmondson secretary and a 14 member board. Construction progress includes a mile of track from White City toward Lithonia with plans to run Atlanta to Lithonia, then to Augusta via Conyers Monroe Athens and Washington.
Robert W Chambers drama The Firing Line is presented in a lavish production by A G Delamater with four acts and a carload of scenery. The play, adapted by Richard Walton Tully, is set in Palm Beach New York City and the Adirondacks and follows events from the original novel with strong stage appeal.
The Board of Lady Visitors, appointed by the mayor, met at 4 PM at the superintendent's office to plan monthly visits to city schools. Members and assignments include Jago to Oconee Street and East Athens, Vaughan to College Avenue and East Athens colored, Lampkin to Nantahala and Meigs, Dorsey to Baxter and West Athens colored, Lyndon to the High School and Nantahala night.

The Gainesville Midland timetable change, initially criticized, now appears satisfactory. Officials delayed publishing causing confusion, but trains are timed to let Athens shoppers spend the day in town and return home before night. Arrivals daily except Sunday at 9 35 am and 6 pm, Sundays 10 40 am and 7 55 pm. Departures weekdays 7 20 am and 4 30 pm, Sundays 7 45 am and 5 pm.
