A depot agent and an operator were attacked in broad daylight in the public waiting room of The Station at Chester Ohio. They were robbed of valuables as they stood near the depot counter. Authorities investigate the incident for possible suspects.
Police in Athens seek two white men for a bold Chester South Carolina depot robbery that left the agent badly injured and $261.20 stolen. The pair struck at 1:80 p.m. during a time with few bystanders and fled toward a passing freight.
The Lucy Cobb Institute team meets State Normal School at 4 pm at the YWCA gym corner Hancock and Pulaski. Admission is for adults only. The Lucies claim no defeat and the State Normal squad vows to topple them in a likely thriller.

Mrs. Cynthia Buffum was found guilty of first degree murder for poisoning her husband Wik Yam Buffum in Little Valley New York on February 27. Five of her sons testified for her during the trial and the state presented the apparent signature scar as key evidence.

Ranger Captain Sanders reports that Clements Vergara was shot while in Mexican custody after Mexican federal troops crossed the Rio Grande and seized his horses. Vergara was dragged from custody near Hidalgo and killed en route to Piedras Negras. Governor Colquitt seeks guidance from Secretary Bryan on pursuing those responsible.
Governor Colquitt told the Associated Press that reported threats to send state troops into Mexico were false. He cites past actions in 1912 and 1913 to protect Texas citizens and says he directed guard units to Brownsville to safeguard Texans when the federal government allegedly neglected border security.
Mane Hansford, about ten years old, was arrested on Broad Street by Officer Short on a warrant after weeks of alleged unmanageable conduct. He allegedly assaulted his aunt with a poker and threatened to kill her to prevent arrest, and was taken to the county prison.
In Newfoundland wilds a boatswain Wilkinson and 82 crew members from the naval tug Potomac escaped after abandoning their vessel during a rescue attempt. American fishing schooners reached the scene and hope for the Potomac faded.
