One Killed and Nine Hurt in Strike Riot
Philadelphia February 21 In a riot tonight by the wives of striking employees of the Franklin Sugar Refining company one man was killed and nine others seriously injured when police and strikers clashed near the refinery. The dead man Marelquenas Detko bze fell as police volley fired and bricks showered on reserves rushing from City Hall. Scores of workmen mostly foreigners and policemen were hurt by flying missiles. The women were led to the refinery by Mrs Florence Shadle who with a baby in her arms was dragged to safety by a policeman and arrested charged with inciting to riot.
