The Banner reports Lamar F. Ham pleaded guilty to being disorderly around a house in East Athens Saturday night. He was fined ten dollars and costs after a brief police court appearance. Ham challenged the paper’s coverage before the judge and editor, saying he got off light.

Mrs Frances Paine Dies After Long Illness at 76
Frances Rebecca Paine, a longtime resident of the county and graduate of Salem College, died Monday night at her daughter’s home in Whitehall after a paralysis illness. She leaves five children, including James G. Paine of Whitehall and Mrs. John R. White, with many mourners praising her gentle, charitable life and Methodist faith.

Overcoat Theft Testifies in Lumpkin Street Boarding House
Albert Holder, a young African American, admitted stealing an overcoat belonging to Mr. Canning from a Lumpkin Street boarding house near the Y M C A. He wore it days before police recovered the coat and he was sent to county jail after appearing before Judge Foster. The item and the defendant are tied to a case heard yesterday. In Commerce Ga Feb 21 authorities doubt the Rev J D Woodward is a real minister. He is alleged to be J D Ginn formerly from Hart county. He admitted under questioning to multiple marriages under different names and is sought for charges including bigamy and forgery. A fifth wife is named and evidence suggests he used aliases to escape punishment. He may be sent to Hart county after Jackson county proceedings.
