Strickland Guilty of Manslaughter at Jefferson
At Jefferson yesterday during the Jackson county superior court spring term, M. Strickland, a white man, was sentenced to ten years on the chain gang for voluntary manslaughter. He was accused of killing a ten year old girl, daughter of Mrs. Collins, in a cabin near Pendergrass after a night of drinking and a quarrel. The jury deliberated all night before returning the verdict. The Collins family had traveled from Gainesville to the cabin noted for disorderly activity. The defense was led by Judge Strickland and Judge Thomas, with Cols. A. C. Brown, J. A. B. Mahaffey, and Ray advising.

In police court W C Bailey of Atlanta pleaded not guilty to loitering around the Seaboard depot. The mayor fined him 25 dollars and suspended sentence on the condition he leave town. He departed within thirty minutes, heading west toward Atlanta, setting a record for rapid departure from the Classic City. Father McVeigh of Atlanta will celebrate mass at the Catholic church Sunday at 10 30 am. All are invited.

The loss comes as Mary E Burch wife of J L Burch died suddenly from a severe acute indigestion attack yesterday morning. Georgia's State College of Agriculture has appointed farm demonstrators in forty counties to spread college methods and show farmers how to increase yields. Dr George Little Dies in Atlanta
Crawford physician Dr George Little died at a private sanitarium in Atlanta while seeking treatment. He will be buried today in Crawford cemetery. He leaves a wife three daughters a father and one brother. The Mazonic fraternity mourns his loss and many local friends will attend the funeral. He was cousin to Mrs J H Dorsey of Crawford.
