New Franchise Granted To Athens Electric Railway
The Athens City Council granted a new franchise to the Athens Electric Railway Company. The agreement provides gradually rising percentages of gross receipts paid to the city over a 50 year term, plus ad valorem taxes on property inside the city. The ordinance allows extensions and sets construction timelines while preserving city oversight and future power plant options.
