The YMCA gymnasium will host two fast paced basketball games on Friday with teams training vigorously. Officials will enforce rules to keep play clean and entertaining for spectators including a potential surprise announcement. Admission is twenty five cents plus ten cents for balcony seats, proceeds fund new gym equipment.

Hogan McCurdy, an Athens native and mounted officer, and his horse Elton ran down a runaway milk wagon on Fifth Avenue near Ninety-Third Street. McCurdy sprang into action after falling from Elton, and the pair halted the runaway despite knee injuries. Elton, once trained in cavalry service, is a prized city horse owned by McCurdy who earned the right to ride him.
