Mrs E E Ogletree died after a three day illness at her Boulevard home beyond the city limits. Her husband, left with two small children, was overcome with grief and unable to attend. The body rests at White Hall with funeral postponed to a later date. Mr Ogletree has many friends offering sympathy.

Elks Memorial At Athens Lodge Held For Departed Brothers

Memorial services were held at the Colonial theatre by the Athens Lodge of Elks for departed members. The program featured the State Normal Orchestra under Prof. Stanage and readings by Miss Martin and others, with Hon. Clifford M. Walker delivering an address on fraternity, labor, and national unity amid modern challenges.

Work starts tear down of Washington Street School

Yesterday morning the work of tearing down the Washington street school building was commenced. City Engineer Barnett directs a force as crews remove the old structure.

City plans reuse of old building materials for new school site

The old building will be torn down in two weeks and materials moved to the Jackson street school lot for later use in the new school. Timber and brick are valuable for interior walls and other parts, with an estimated fifteen hundred dollars in material saved after removal costs. The hotel company will start on the new building within two weeks, before Christmas.

A large Elks group from this city travels to Elberton this morning for lodge installation. Exalted Ruler Bancroft will preside with Hon. R. A. Denny of Rome assisting. Denny is deputy grand exalted ruler for the state and a noted Rome lawyer.
