Georgia’s new National Army officers finish leave at Fort McPherson and report to Camp Gordon today and tomorrow for duty. Major Hammond Johnson Captains Cunningham and Meadow and Athens area officers will train men to be concentrated there. Several are traveling from across the state. Capt R L McWhorter trains in grenade throwing in Oklahoma and will proceed to New York for instruction.

Two arrests were recorded on the police dockets yesterday on charges of violation of the state laws and on state warrants. Misdemeanors were charged in each case. Both were wanted in Banks county, Jesse Huff and Joe Sailors were the defendants arrested and turned over to Banks county authorities to be taken to Homer.
Sol J. Boley has returned from New York and other eastern markets. He has been buying heavily in anticipation of a busy fall business in Athens.

Mr. John W. Welch, buyer and warehouseman, secured the first bale of cotton from the immediate territory yesterday. He paid 80 cents a staple, the bale netting $137.50. The bale came from Bishop, Georgia, and was brought to Athens by J. W. Smith of Bishop, who had bought it the day before from J. C. Chandler.
Mexico City August 28. The Associated Press reports that German intelligence networks in Mexico rely on Allied censorship to function. They claim the path from the United States to Germany via Mexico is inefficient and unlikely to improve soon.
In Birmingham on August 28 the Bankhead National Highway Locating Commission wrapped up its Atlanta to Birmingham to Memphis route survey. Led by Dr. Riggs, Prof. Hale Houston, and officials from Clemson, South Carolina, and banking circles, the party met in Atlanta with scores of civic leaders. A public report on the pathfinder findings and the Atlanta Birmingham and Memphis division is due within about thirty days.
