Rehabilitation student who fatally shot L C Hardeman
Funeral services for Mr. Hardeman will be conducted this morning at 11 from Union Baptist. Interment will be in Union Baptist Cemetery. Hardeman is survived by his father Pope Hardeman and two sisters, Mrs. Roy Brooks and Mrs. L C Wardlaw, both of Athens. Pallbearers will be selected this morning. Homer Murray, a rehabilitation student at the University of Georgia, who on Wednesday night fatally shot L Quilla Hardeman on the Ila road about seven miles from Athens, was placed in the county jail at Danielsville Thursday morning about 10 15 o'clock. Murray was arrested by Sheriff Hall near the scene while en route from Athens to Danielsville to surrender. The warrant charged Murray with murder. He reported to the county hospital on Thursday morning and gave himself up. Murray, a member of the station class at the University for several months, was disabled while serving in the World War I era. He was accompanied by a fellow rehabilitation student the night of the shooting and was met by Sheriff Hall near the scene. The story continues on Page Three.
