Atlanta August 15. A walkout in the Georgia House was threatened as the battle over the general appropriations bill continued into the afternoon. The Senate trimmed the House bill by nearly a million and added funds for Milledgeville, the state experiment station, and other institutions. Two new counties, Treutlen and Atkinson, passed in the House, while Cook County’s bid failed. The age of consent bill moved toward passage in conference. Senate action kept common schools at 3,000,000 with several increases for higher institutions and local projects.
