Splendid Addresses by Agriculturists

The annual session of the State Agricultural Society opened at ten in the University chapel with delegates and citizens present. Alderman W P Vonderau gave the welcome, Major G M Ryall responded, and President Dudley M Hughes delivered the keynote. Hughes praised Georgia's agricultural progress, education, and the University of Georgia's School of Agriculture, urging broader classical training for farmer sons and stronger law enforcement, including rural police, to protect families and ensure orderly justice. He noted pay raises for judges and the need for longer judicial terms, urging continued support for agricultural advancement this fall in Macon.

A Fine Baseball Game on Campus Today

A campus baseball match between Athens and Whitehall will be played this afternoon with rubber match stakes after two prior games, Athens losing 6 2 and winning 6 2, admission 15 cents, in hopes of large citizen attendance. The remainder discusses crime and legal rhetoric, condemning mob violence and advocating judicial trials free of prejudice to protect women and rural families.

Shooting at Watkin s depot shocks Watkinsville GA

A late night shooting near the depot in Watkinsville Ga left Sidney Robinson seriously wounded with internal bleeding. The incident followed a prior accident at the same depot where Robinson lost part of a hand while assisting in lifting machinery. The case is tied to ongoing local court actions and statements by Judge Speer and others.

Mr H Mwhorter Stricken With Paralysis in City

Mr H Mwhorter was struck down with paralysis in this city. He suffered tongue and brain paralysis and lies unconscious. The attending physician has little hope of recovery. Mr McWhorter is a well known local man with many friends praying for his speedy recovery.

Negro Hurt by Falling Window at Southern Manufacturing Co

Yesterday afternoon Luther Allen a Negro man at work on the buildings of the Southern Manufacturing Co in this city had his right hand badly injured when a large window fell and shattered. A piece of glass struck his hand severing tendons and causing heavy bleeding. Dr Dillard attended and thinks the hand will be saved though use may be limited for a time.

Epworth Leaguers are urged to attend a special meeting at the Methodist church tonight at 7:50 o clock. Mr W Ju Weber of Emory College third vice president of the Epworth League North Georgia Conference will address the gathering and welcome visitors who wish to hear him.

Good Templars to Have Reunion

Evans Lodge I O G T will hold a reunion of all members next Thursday night August 6 at 8 o clock. All members are urged to attend for installation of officers a program and an evening of profit. Speakers include Mrs H E Martin Miss Kate Childers and Miss Sallie Mae McElreath of Macon on industrial development of Georgia. Major Hanson spoke at length on state progress and future industrial growth. The society will hold two sessions today with strong addresses. Outcomes for next year to be decided at this afternoon session.

Dairymen Adjourned Meeting in Athens After Annual Session

The ninth annual session of the Georgia Dairymen's Association ended in Athens with plans for Tallulah Falls hosting next year. Notable addresses by Dr. W. A. Henry Col I O Wade and Chancellor Hull highlighted dairy feeding industrial education and the university's agriculture work. Officers were re elected and members thanked Athens hosts before adjourning to attend the State Agricultural Society program.
