In Athens a year after the Vaughan Memorial association formed, L. W. Cooper was reelected president as the temporary officers became regular. Other officers include J. L. Pendley secretary, J. L. Moore vice president and chaplain, and B. H. Collier, W. W. Tomlinson, FE. Wells, J. W. Brown among county vice presidents. The meeting at the county courthouse featured prayers, songs, and readings of letters from friends in Arkansas and Texas praising Vaughan.
Flood reports tally forty seven dead or missing with only three bodies recovered by early Wednesday night. Aged two to three, they are free of leprosy and will reside in a public orphanage until the disease potential passes. Experts from the Rockefeller Foundation advised against Cullen Island colony, favoring Manila assistance. Navy maneuvers in the Firth of Forth suspended to protect sea fishing.
Henry C. Tuck of Kissimmee Florida writes to praise the Banner-Herald for publishing wartime names from the Athens Guards and requests periodic rosters of other Athens companies. He notes his kinsman Jos E Tuck served in the Army of Northern Virginia with commendations at Fredericksburg and Spotsylvania Court House and reflects on the paper as a trusted community voice.
The preliminary hearing for W. F. Dorsey, a prominent furniture dealer charged with violation of the prohibition law, is scheduled today at 11 in the city court. Justice Milton Thomas presides with assistants Justices Nunnally Holbrook and Hemrick. Judge Henry West will defend Dorsey, Lamar Rucker will represent the state, and many witnesses have been summoned, some from out of town.
Georgia and Vanderbilt tickets go on sale at five this afternoon, with grandstand seats enlarged and limited prime spots behind the home plaza and along the first base line. The note adds that the largest freight engine weighs 450 tons and has drawn 17 000 tons on a slight upgrade.
About one hundred visitors from Northeast Georgia attended the Clarke county board of Commissioners gathering as the 8th Congressional District association of commissioners met at the Agricultural College. J M Hodgson presided, with T B Mell and G H Howard discussing a proposed 75 million dollar road bond plan to fund a 5500 mile national state system over thirty years. Speakers praised Dr. Charles M. Strahan for laying the foundation of Georgia’s road program and noted the plan would not raise taxes but create a permanent road-building program. Attending officials from numerous counties were listed.
Hon Lucian Lamar Knight, Georgia historian and University alumnus, spoke at Athens Memorial Day ceremonies. Veterans gathered at Lucy Cobb Institute, enjoyed a luncheon, and heard Knight honor Confederate soldiers, with Lucy Cobb girls offering songs and recitations. Prize winners were named in essays, and graves at the cemetery were decorated in a day-long program marked by reverence and traditional regalia.
Washington report says Representative Johnson claimed official documents show hundreds of millions in duplicate bonds. Treasury officials deny the charge citing Mellon led investigations found no large scale circulation of counterfeit securities. Wingo criticizes Johnson for unbacked assertions and urges proof before public statements.
Demosthenian Literary Society members L. M. Betts Jr Athens E M Dustan Brazil and W G Cooper Atlanta beat C L Padgett Macon Austin F Dean and Alton Horch Gainesville representing Phi Kappa Literary Society by 2 to 1 in the annual sophomore debate held in University chapel. Subject: Resolved that the policy of the open shop is for the best interests of the American people. Colonel Henry H West Athens served as master of ceremonies. The program drew a good audience of students and townspeople and highlighted the forensics talent at the university.
The Georgia Bulldogs defeated Camp Benning Officers 10 to 3 in Columbus. Deakle started for Georgia, Pantone relieved, and Boney starred with three hits including a three bagger. Six double plays were turned as a large Memorial Day crowd filled the park. Georgia led 2-0, Benning briefly led 3-2, then Georgia pulled away for the final total.
No police court was held on Wednesday night due to a holiday and no prisoners requiring immediate trial were in custody.

The feature travels from France to Mexico with elaborate settings and spectacular visuals. It features established screen favorites and aims to captivate old and young audiences alike.
At Annapolis Georgia Tech beat Navy 13 to 1. In Starkville Texas University defeated Mississippi A and M J 3 to 0. In Macon Vanderbilt won 1 to Mercer.
