Dr. Poling spoke Friday night to about 400 visitors at the First Christian church as the Christian Endeavor convention opened. Capt. Slaymaker and Dr. Poling led singing and spoke on Endeavor. a social followed in the basement with games and delegates housed by local hosts.

In Wilkes County a Superior Court jury returned a verdict for the defendants K J Haughey and Ro Bo Haughey in a suit by Athens Foundry Company for 200.66 for repairs on a stamping machine at a Wilkes county golf mine near Centreville. The Haugheys' counterclaim for 1650 for claimed lost gold due to improper work was eliminated. they also claim a gold deposit worth 350, from a mine 10 miles from Washington, still being worked. Attorneys Erwin, Erwin & Nix for the foundry and Thomas, Thomas & Tenny for the mine operators. Indictment of Augustan merchant Grablowsky for arson returned by Richmond county grand jury. Grablowsky denies the charge, suggesting saturated clothes indicate theft by others.
The Bat province annual convention of Phi Delta Theta will meet in Athens with Georgia Alpha at the University of Georgia from April 27 to 29. Prominent speakers include Governor Thomas W. Hardwick and Fred R. Cowles. A Spring Festival Weekend hosts dances, games, initiations, and a senior class parade, with hundreds of visitors expected and a banquet at the Georgian hotel Thursday night.
