Nearly 400 delegates, about 688 registered at First Christian church, Savannah, for the Georgia Christian Endeavor state convention opening Friday at 3 pm. Delegates hail from Atlanta, Savannah, Macon, Augusta, Columbus and many towns, with plans for banquets and rides. The opening program includes devotions, greetings, prayers, and talks such as Four Reasons Why by S. Wilkes Dendy, with continued sessions through Saturday night and a closing prayer by Rev. R. Kirkpatrick.
University students show strong interest in the annual Who's Who election run by Pandora editors. Ballot honors range from serious titles like Best Musician and Most Popular Student to humorous ones such as Biggest Grafter and Handsomest Boy. Results will appear in the Red and Black later this week.
The Georgia class of 1932 votes to hold the annual senior parade on Saturday April 29. Plans include a class smoker each month until commencement and committees from Law Band and Agricultural departments organizing the event.
Miss Katie Langford aged fourteen died Wednesday afternoon at a local hospital. She resided at 188 Park Avenue Athens and was active in the Baptist church. Funeral services will be held Thursday at the Penfield Baptist Church with Rev Flury officiating. interment in the church yard. Survived by father W H Langford three sisters Moselle Clara and Mrs Florrie Cody and two brothers Connie and Cleveland, all of Athens. Dunaway & Son in charge.
The Buick roadster stolen from Dr C A Middlebrooks last Sunday afternoon was recovered in Butler Georgia. Police report two occupants fled from the car after attempting to flee a filling station without paying for gas. They were pursued as the windshield and gas tank were damaged. Authorities know the suspects but had not captured them. The car retained its Middlebrooks plate and was connected to the owner through the Secretary of State.
About 200 officers and men in 35 trucks reach Athens from Camp Jesup Georgia and camp on the University of Georgia campus while en route to Camp Holabird Maryland. Major C B Hamilton commands the fleet with Capt J Le Caxperix leading the advance party that reached the city Wednesday morning for a stop over.
Mamle Roberson faced disorderly conduct and loitering charges, fined 10.75 dollars plus 20 dollars costs on the first charge. Idling and loitering cases were continued due to absent witnesses. Friends report Bishop Troy Beatty is seriously ill with pneumonia at his Nashville home. He long served as rector of the Episcopal church here and was beloved by both parishioners and many residents. Mrs. R. W. Anderson left for Nashville today.

In the Southern League Mobile lost 4 to 6 at Atlanta while Chattanooga edged Little Rock Nashville 2 to Memphis 1 and Birmingham defeated New Orleans 3 0. In the American League Boston beat New York 5 to 1 while Cleveland defeated St Louis 16 to 1 with others postponed. In the National League no games were played due to rain.
