Fifteen Counties Seek Tomato Canning Club Organization
The state has fifteen counties eager to start girls tomatoes and canning clubs but lack funds to expand extension work. Athens Leads Eighth District High School Contests
Athens swept early honors in the Eighth district events at Greensboro Ga on April 18 with Irvine Levy winning first in declamation and Nettie Webb taking third in recitation. Claud Hill Arrested After Skull Fracture Incident
Claud Hill, a 17-year-old, was arrested for disorderly conduct after a fight in a Cartey and Hill Street garage left E Guy Barnett with a fractured skull. Barnett alleges Hill struck him with a hammer during a confrontation. Hill says Barnett provoked him with abuse and a stick. Five Foot Alligator Captured in Mud Near Southern Mfg Co
A five foot live alligator was trapped by Roy Tibbetts in a pond beside the Southern Manufacturing Company mill. The animal, estimated at about fifteen years old, was dragged from the mud after workers fled as the creature stirred the water during pond filling.

Automobile Motorcycle Collision Near Prince and Pulaski
Yesterday morning at the corner of Prince avenue and Pulaski street the car of J B Wier of the oil mill collided with a motorcycle from the Athens Cycle Company ridden by Thomas Kinnon. The motorcycle was damaged, the car fender and a lamp were smashed, and the rider sustained slight scratches but no serious injuries.
