Thirteen enumerators started counting Athens residents yesterday morning with care to cover every street and residence. The process aims for a thorough, accurate census over ten days to two weeks, with no one skipped and no one laughed at a second call. An unnamed elderly woman refused to give her name and age.

Grand Jury Adjourns After Active Term In County Court

The grand jury met yesterday afternoon at 3 o clock and arranged its business for the term so readings will be ready in open court after 9 both today. It investigated every county department and officer, finding fees to present more offenses than in years past but fewer true bills overall. Police activity and city court efficiency reduced petty cases the jury must consider.
