The Athens Flag Day event drew nearly 4 000 participants in a parade over a mile long. Cadets, students, and civic groups marched along Prince Avenue while spectators gathered at City Hall. Speaker Hon. S. L. Olive lauded the city’s patriotism as Mayor W P Dorsey accepted the flag presented by local merchants.
