Jefferson man found guilty of first degree murder
Special to Banner. Jefferson Ga April 8. After an hour and a half of deliberations the jury found Hollis Sanders guilty of murder in the first degree for killing Sheriff Cliff Barber of Jackson County. Judge Andrew J Cobb sentenced Sanders to hang on June 6 1919. The trial spanned two days with large crowds present. A motion for a new trial was filed, date to be fixed.
