Winters a harvest worker in Athena faces charges before Judge Richards for stealing 22 from Sutton at Hillsdale wheat warehouse and 6.50 in cash along with 50 stamps and four suspenders from John Martin's farm. He allegedly took Sutton’s 22 while Sutton slept, then fled to Bergevin place to steal again. Witnesses place Winters in a tent with Mrs Martin's husband, and 6.50 cash and stamps went missing Friday. Sutton warned Winters, who then surrendered a watch, and Winters was arrested after Martin obtained a warrant. He was bound over to the circuit court after a tense hearing and jailed.

Cause of death follows worsening illness in Milton family
J R Shew of Milton died of blood poisoning at Walla Walla Hospital on Sunday evening. He was 54 and survived by a wife and four children. His wife, bedfast in the hospital, contracted blood poisoning in her hand while nursing him. The Shews recently moved from Indiana to Milton.

Report from Born states Jobo Midland fatally shot a Spaniard, Lorena P. Ramos, on Steio mountain after a dispute over two bands of sheep. Two days earlier Ramos had beaten Midland in a fistfight.
