J A Kirk, longtime resident and farmer near Athena, died Saturday at about 11 o clock after a brief illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday at two o'clock from his home on Third Street, with Rev. B. Clevenger officiating and music by the choir. Survivors include M A Williams Valley, Mrs M L Gulliford of Helix, Mrs M G Gullifard of Hi Frum, and others. burial followed at the Page tavern south of town. He came to Athena 49 years ago, later moving to settle permanently here. He was born in Linn County Oregon March 20, 18—, age 60-something.
