Rich mercury vein found near Lookout mountain in Crook county

A major mercury ore discovery is reported in Crook county upper tunnel of the Alamedan property on Lookout mountain. Vein measures two to three feet wide with ore around 46 percent mercury, expanding as tunneling continues. A new boiler will be shipped from Portland this week as management aims for a fast winter run. Separately, Frank Wall, missing from Havana, is reportedly ill in Lewiston with his brother Charles coordinating care. He also seeks sheep partners to run 1800 to 8000 head on shares or purchase. W. Indians Cannot Get Whiskey in Idaho Says Lewiston Tribune

Died of Typhoid Thompson Dies at Twenty Five

Augustus K. Thompson died of typhoid fever at his mother Mrs. Masterson's home in the city on Friday October 13 aged 25 years and 17 days. He leaves a mother, brother George of Worthington & Thompson, and sisters Mrs. May Carey of Astoria and Myrtle Thompson. The funeral was held Sunday at 2 p.m. from the M E church with Rev. George I. Elis officiating.

Sentence handed to Williamson and Biggs in federal case

Congressman John N. Williamson and Marion Biggs received ten months in prison and fines of 500 dollars each. Dr. Van Geaver drew five months and a 1000 dollar penalty. Judge Hont cited differing physical conditions and warned on government wrongdoing. A stay of judgment was granted pending appeal. Also notes new rural line, and a six mile delivery wagon accident injuring nine year old Jess Kelsey. Wheat priced at 61 cents by Athena Market.

Jones and Potter Convicted in Land Fraud Case

Wade acquitted after jury verdict in under forty minutes. Willard N. Jones Thaddeus Potter found guilty of conspiring to defraud the government of public lands. Jury details show three ballots with unanimous verdicts against the defendants. Judge Hunt disposed of motions and allowed a brief bond period for reappearance. Fire destroys shop in outskirts of Walla Walla

Fire at Walla Walla outskirts destroys Severance and Broughton machine shop causing about 3000 dollars damage. Suspected incendiary origin, started at rear of the building where no prior fire was reported. Prompt fire department action saved adjoining structures.
