Medal for Exhibit At Lewis and Clark Expo Also Shows Crowding
Umatilla county exhibit wins gold medals for grains grasses wheat barley oats and rye at the Lewis and Clark exposition. Sam Forshaw credits the success to county growers but notes space was limited and displays were crowded, dampening display impact. The piece also lists multiple local gold and silver medals for various grains and alfalfa with emphasis on eastern visitors praising the exhibit. Also included are two 1905 justice court summonses from Athena detailing actions for debt and attached property.
