In Bologna a youth fired at Benito Mussolini as he left a stadium rally. The bullet ripped the coat but the premier was unhurt. the assailant, a boy about 18, was killed by an angry crowd as Mussolini remained calm and moved on to the railway station.
Washington report shows total 1925 state highway and bridge spending reached 649,125,101 with 780,081,292 available from prior balances. Revenues came from motor taxes 43 percent and bonds 21 percent. federal funds 14 percent. Pennsylvania led with 62,294,366 followed by New York 49,868,770 and Illinois 36,873,983.
Treasury tax figures show 75 individuals earned over 1 million dollars in 1924. The 7.31 million filers paid 704.27 million in income tax, with the largest share—136.64 million—paid by those earning 50,000 to 100,000. The 75 millionaires declared 155.97 million in net income and paid 47.21 million in taxes.

Mrs. A. J. Wagner traveled from Colfax to Athena with her daughter Mrs. Jake Creighton. She fell seriously ill in Colfax and her condition has grown grave since returning home. Mrs. Hess of Weston assists in her care.

A six foot plus maple-leaf begonia thrives in Miss Lorraine Terry's schoolroom. Dark green serrated leaves are crowned by clusters of pink blossoms, sixteen in full bloom simultaneously. The plant belongs to Mrs. Cora Miller.
