Lawson Booker Young Athlete Dies After Long Illness
Lawson Booker died at his parents home in Athena Oregon after a two year battle with sarcoma and a knee injury from basketball. Funeral services were held at the Christian church with Pastor B B Horton and pallbearers from Athena and nearby towns. He was born in Athena April 1 1890 and died May 40 1910 at age 20 after recovering from Portland surgery and returning to school before illness returned. he leaves his parents and sister Marjorie Jean. Lawson was active in athletics and well known in educational circles across Oregon and eastern Washington.
