Oregon State College study finds chlorate sprays curb weeds
Oregon State College extension specialist E. R. Jackson reports chlorate sprays and dusts effectively control weeds in fence rows and small patches. About 800000 pounds of chemicals were used in Oregon last year, sodium chlorate proving more effective than calcium chlorate. Sprays work best in late summer on unplowed land, with root kill often evident the spring after treatment.
