Man Found Safe After Disappearance at Badger
Word from Prosser reports Kehn missing during the cold spell at Badger has been found safe in Lingto. He traveled from Kansas on the S P & 8 line, boarded the wrong train at Pasco, and left the train at Badger in the night. His valise clothes and ticket were found later in sagebrush beyond Badger with no clue of his path to Oregon.

Dayon Farmer Suicide Shocks Whetstone Hollow
Perry Bickelhaupt, a leading Dayton area farmer of Whetstone Hollow, died by self-inflicted gunshot last Saturday. His widow returned home Sunday with their two children and found him in a bedroom. Coroner John Hunting ruled it self murder. a gun lay near him. The barn was locked and cows untouched, suggesting the act occurred Saturday night. Bickelhaupt, about 35, was among the county’s prosperous farmers. fiancés reportedly settled.

Tragic Death of Will Defreece in Athena
Sorrowful death reported in Athena as Will Defreece, 22, son of Mr and Mrs Thomas Defreece, died after scarlet fever and diphtheria complications following a tiring week. Born August 31 1887 in Umatilla county, he is survived by his parents three sisters and a half sister. Funeral services were held at the grave. Also a charity basketball game on the normal court raised funds for the Athletic association.

Lions Attack Men and Horses in Blue Mountains
A Dayton dispatch reports increased numbers of wildcats and mountain lions in the Blue Mountains during a thin spring. Several range horses and cattle have been killed, with at least one attack on a person. A saddle horse belonging to R. W. Magill was killed after a lion emerged from a den to shelter during a snow storm. Franklin Lotzon, a Takanon farmer, was attacked but escaped by fending off the animal with an ax. Cats have been sighted near barns and along routes in mountain districts, as hunters blame scarce game and deep snow for bold animal behavior.
