Athena City Election Results And Fraternal Society Plan
Athena voters chose Dr. J D Plamondon for mayor with 111 of 128 ballots while council and treasurer races favored incumbents. Ordinance 114 passed 71 to 3. Weston and Athena youths formed a Young Men Fraternal Society, planning a constituting committee and oyster supper. W B Taylor sold two carloads of fine Idaho mules to Pendleton stock buyers with prices from 400 to 500 dollars per pair. U Ren called for GOP consolidation. Cake declined.

Hinkle project sold to Cleaver brothers for 100000
The Cleaver brothers representing Chicago and Indiana capital closed on the Hinkie Ditch holdings at Kobo. About 10 000 acres of arid land and 26 miles of canals were sold for 100 000 dollars. The deal follows another large purchase of half of the Farnish ditch project to Dr Henry Waldo Coe and associates of Portland. The Hinkle Ditch company, organized three years ago by J T Hinkle of Pendleton and O D Teel of Boba, has expanded and become a leading reclamation project in the state. The new owners plan to colonize the land with eastern homeseekers.

Nine year old dies after eating poison candy
Mabel Forrest of Athena died in Pendleton after consuming candy with poison. Her brothers who shared the same candy were seriously ill. An investigation is planned with candy samples to be analyzed. Funeral held in Pendleton with procession from E J Sommerville residence to the Catholic church and burial in Orney cemetery.

Unsolved Death of Lovell Near Starbuck Grips Police
