Injured Plowman at Lumsden Place in Dry Creek Incident

Dog Biddy Injured Again After Break on Hip
Fay LeGrow’s bird dog Biddy suffered another broken hind leg after slipping from a street curb. The animal previously had a hind leg broken by a truck years earlier. This latest fracture could not be set with splints due to the hip break.

Bad check artist hangs one at Rowes Gash Grocery
A dark complexioned man described as under 80, neatly dressed, passed a 22.50 First National Bank of Athena check at Rowe's Gash Grocery in Athena. He bought coffee and canned goods, took $20 in cash, and left before closing. The forged check bore Roy Cannon's name and was detected Tuesday morning. the suspect remains at large.

Civil War Veteran A Wrager Is Buried At Weston Cemetery
A Wrager, respected Weston resident and Civil War veteran, died aged 79. Athena Weston American Legion Post conducted the grave funeral with a firing squad honors. Survived by a niece Mrs. W Crawford of Walla Walla and nephews Shed and John Price of Weston. He lived in Umatilla county about 25 years and earlier hunted buffalo on the plains.

Major Jack Chapin Controls Mountain Road Slide
Weston Mountain market road general superintendent Major Jack Chapin has the large slide near Dick Morrison ranch mostly under control. He fenced the slide and built a passable detour around it. The Guardians hosted Wauna Campfire girls at Miss Hilda Dickenson’s home on Wednesday evening.
