Stranger Dies At Farm Near Freewater In 1893
Dr Thomas was summoned to a home half a mile below Freewater to attend a stranger later found dead. The only identifying item was a road tax certificate for $895 showing Isaac Erickson had paid tax. The notice references City April 8, 1893.

Robbed the Corner Slot Machine and Liquor Taken
A back door entry aided by an ox allowed burglars to seize a slot machine, a half gallon of whisky, and cigars from Booker Brother’s area near the O. K. R. & W. track. The high value item was the machine’s collar fittings. The lock was pried at the mill area, with $10 to $15 stolen from its box. No suspects yet, but hobos are suspected.
