The return from Portland shows Geer winning by a large plurality and the entire Republican ticket elected. Moody and Tongue also win in Congress. the Legislature is overwhelmingly Republican with strong county results in Multnomah and surrounding areas.
The middle year class staged an impressive program at the opera house with twenty students present. Dr. Penrose of Whitman College spoke briefly after a late arrival, while Miss Susan Dunn delivered a notable essay “The Olvas of ’90 Ten Years Honea.” The event highlighted student achievements and school progress, with praise for the pupils’ performances and the rich decorations.
The grand jury for the Jone term includes J P McMion Walter Ginn F F Delong OK Brynou 8 8 Beck Charles Spence and David Horn with Horn as foreman. The circuit court disposed of multiple cases including London and San Francisco bank, Pendleton Savings bank v Dennis et al, Merchant v Livety, and others, with several continuances for service and stipulation. A journal entry notes a motion to dismiss the Hw Rourke case and a decision reached on that matter.
In Weston a large crowd gathered for the Woodmen of the World monument unveiling to honor John Charles Bowling born February 1 1856 died April 10 1897 Adams Camp No 68 led the exercises and a Weston choir performed. The ceremony featured a procession from the Woodmen hall to the cemetery and a speaker addressed the crowd about memory service and community virtue.
