Worth Watts Designs New Style Speed Boat
Worth P Watts, Oroville High School auto mechanics instructor, designed and built an air propelled speed boat in the shops of the school. The 15 by 4.5 foot craft uses a wrecked Ford motor, airplane propeller, and novel gearing with pontoons made from Ford gasoline tanks. Launched in January by students of the auto mechanics class, the boat is named Miss Oroville amid rumors of a champagne bow christening. Sheriff Toland has no knowledge of the incident.
