County Trage Meet Drafts School Constitution in Pendleton
Executive committee for Umatilia County schools met in Pendleton on February 19 to draft a constitution and by laws for a new organization. The plan includes an annual track meet with an oratorical contest, divisions for different grade levels, events such as sprints, jumps, pole vault, and relays, and prixes. Admission is 25 cents to cover expenses, with the association owning its equipment and aiming for annual meets at a central site.

The work, begun near last June, faced basalt, black sand, and boulders with delays from a stuck drill and required special tackle to recover it.
