Railways vow fight Medford freight rate law in Oregon

The Hill lines lead a legal challenge to the Medford freight rate bill adopted by Oregon voters. The Oregon Electric Railway will sue in federal court to declare the law invalid as impossible to observe, arguing the tariff would force drastic, revolutionary changes and harm business. The measure carries 66,890 votes for and 44,719 against. Knights of Pythias entertainments, a notary-cancellation, and local notices fill out the page.

Oregon Election Boards Reordered by Party Rules

Deputy City Auditor O F Wiegand says Oregon election law requires boards to be staffed by members of the two parties with most votes for presidential electors. Republicans and Prohibitionists will be third and fourth on boards, and the new Leader store on Alder Street replaces the Chicago Store’s dry goods department as Fix & Radtke assume stock.
