Pendleton Center Notes and Athena Harvest Updates
Pendleton Center and surrounding towns report a bustling mix of social calls, harvest activity, weather notes, and local visits. Residents including Walter Ely Curley Helix family, Herrick of Walla Walla, and J H Torper of Weston are listed among local movers. Weather brings rain in the Palouse and harvest pausing due to showers as crews complete or pause threshing. Local movements include Mr and Mrs Victor McDonald visiting from Walla Walla, Miss Barker from Portland, and Alpaca harvests earlier in Adams County. A subset of notices cover births, deaths, and community services, with ongoing town rail and street paving updates.

Freewater Saloon License Reported Granted by Council
Advices from Freewater to District Attorney Phelps claim the council granted a saloon license at a recent meeting to a Walla Walla man named McElrath. He will open soon and may face immediate prosecution under the local option law. Each day his business operates could bring a new indictment, according to Mr. Phelps. Separately, J. Z. Smith of Walla Walla bought 3,000 bushels of blue stem wheat at 61 1/2 cents, part of a series of recent purchases by Kerr Gifford. The King farm near Paloose City reports a 60 acre yield of 57 1/2 bushels per acre of Fortyfold wheat, with Red Russian nearby yielding about 40 bushels per acre.
