Reservation title for Athena district allotments advances
Justice of the peace C. G. Chamberlain draws applications under the 1908 act for Athenean allottee land titles. Notices posted at Uma tilla agency invite appearances to contest title grants, aiming to place ownership with competent mixed bloods and working farmers while full bloods who lease stay agency dependent. Filing shows many applicants including Romilard, Gagnon, and Wilson brothers. Indian Agent Edwards and Chamberlain believe owner title will reduce future complications from heirs.
