Warehouse sale ends as Preton-Parton mill takes over large complex
The big red warehouse, once the Pacific Coast Elevator facility in this city, has been sold to the Preton-Parton milling company. The purchase closes Wednesday, with Charles McFerrland of the former elevator firm named in charge of warehouse operations. The deal expands storage capacity as the milling business grows, freeing space previously used for wheat from other warehouse firms.

Pioneer stockman H. C. Adams dies in Walla Walla
H C Adams a longtime stockman and former Umatilla County sheep entrepreneur died at the Bryon home in Walla Walla at 7 80 Wednesday evening from a stroke after a yearlong illness. Born September 17 1838 in Franklin Missouri he moved to California 1860 then Oregon joining brother John F Adams in sheep farming. The Adams brothers led large herds into Umatilla County in 1860s becoming prominent. he never married and left kin including nephews and a cousin A Barrett. Funeral set for tomorrow at 10 a m in Walla Walla.
