A loyal black spaniel guards the suspected shooting site near Wallace Idaho, returning to a prospector’s cabin for meat offerings. He visits about two to four day intervals, leading locals to plan a large search with forest rangers and officers to recover remains believed buried under deep snow. Fire Follows Robbery at Weston Store
Burglars blew open the Weston store safe early Sunday, gaining $5 and starting a fire that damaged the building and stock, valued at $5,000 with $2,000 insured. A band car was stolen and abandoned at Dry Creek, three robbers captured at Wallola, named J A Murray D M Clark and Michael Burke. They had burglary tools and were jailed after visiting Athena Friday and Saturday.
