Hearst Down Denounced by Oregon Democratic Convention
Oregon Democrats in Portland reject an instructed delegation to the national convention and denounce the Republican party and trusts. The platform endorses Jeffersonian democracy, backs eight hour law, anti trust enforcement, and Chamberlain administration while nominating state and district officers and electors. Delegates chosen include Chamberlain, Butcher, Matlock, and others with a strong anti Hearst sentiment despite a late nod commending Hearst actions.
