Democratic Ticket Convention At Umatilla County
The Umatilla county democratic convention adopted a permanent organization and a structured order of business. Delegates numbered 219, with nominations for county judge, commissioner, sheriff, clerk, recorder, treasurer, assessor, school superintendent, coroner, two state representatives, and 18 delegates to state and congressional conventions. Delegates supported Raley and Stanfield for joint representative, and Lloyd for county commissioner after ballots. Resolutions praised irrigation, Lewis and Clark centennial, and direct primary. Colonel Boyd memorial approved. Subsequent nominations selected Hartman, Lloyd, Cherry, Chamberlain, Fowler, Lightfoot, Mayberry, Berkeley, Henderson, Strain, and endorsements for Hailey.
