Purchases Reported In Kirk Estate Sale Involving Athena Land Co

Pendiston papers last week noted Athena Land company bought a quarter interest in the Kirk estate from Neri Ackles and wife for a sum described as con. E. B. Koonts, in charge of the estate, arranged a transfer to a Portland trust company. No further local confirmation of Athena Land Co. is available.

Petition Circulates For Pendleton Athens Road Macadam

Over 100 taxpayers signed a petition led by Case Cannon asking the Pendleton Athens macadam road be built to connect with the city limits at the City Park bridge. The project would extend Third Street south to the city line, accelerating street improvements and boosting property values in the area including owners such as Wm. Booter A. B. McEwen Zeph Lockwood D. A. Pickerton and the City of Albany. The plan envisions a bridge at the crest and notes recent park district improvements and potential new dwellings.
