Fire at Brockett yard causes heavy loss and two horses killed
A fire at the Brockett Lumber yard on Main Street between Tenth and Eleventh destroyed the feed room barn where two horses died. The blaze spread to sheds, destroying about 100 feet of structure and damaging contents. Insurance covered $2,500. Firemen from Central and West Atchison confined the flames quickly, limiting main shed damage. An insurance adjuster noted headway was greater when discovered than a recent Kansas City yard fire.
