Pillsbury Plans Large Four Story Warehouse Here
Excavation for a much larger Pillsbury warehouse than planned will start Friday. Otto Kaaz has the contract to build a brick four story structure with a basement on Main street east of the Pillsbury office. Cost estimated around 90 to 100 thousand dollars with 43 000 square feet of floor space and a coarse grain mill on the east end. The project aims for 100 day completion using local labor and features an overhead conveyor linking mill and warehouse for flour and grain transfers.

Kansas Power & Light Co to spend 30000 on a remodeling and enlargement of the Atchison car barn at Main and Tenth streets. The renovated brick building will be 75 feet wide and 130 feet long housing five buses twelve trucks a machine shop and storage with a hydraulic lift. Contractors started estimating costs and work. The old street car barn dates back to the early era of electric cars in Atchison.

Steinite radio plants will add over 100 employees starting Tuesday morning, raising total staff to above 600. The expansion targets skilled labor and general shop roles as demand for radio sets remains strong and a coast-to-coast ad campaign is planned for fall. New staff includes A Crossley from Washington, D C, head of Naval Research labs, joining the local engineering team, with five additional radio patents to his name.
