From Wednesday's Daily Sept 22 Atchison high school band of 50 joined 30 Bendena men for a chicken supper at Bendena Lutheran church. W. D. Wolfe urged local trade with Bendena merchants and a bond between Atchison and Bendena. The band performed on the church lawn. notable speakers included Rev Joseph Peterson and Heber Mize. Bendena hosts included many local residents and officials. the event ended before 9:30 pm with the Atchison party returning home by ten.

Thief Breaks Into Skelly Oil Station in Robbery
A rear-door break in at the Skelly Oil Co filling station at Fourteenth and Commercial streets last night netted $20.67 from a small safe battered through a wire slot. Manager Russell Kiehl found the scene at 7 AM. Police are on the case as crews search for clues. An earlier attempt to break into the Harry Ham garage at 509 Kansas avenue failed, with a pry mark and wooden jam at the door.

Johanna Althoff Peters, 80, longtime Atchison resident of 68 years and widow of Martin Peters, died after a two week illness at 610 Spring street. Funeral 9 AM Monday at St Benedict's Church. rosary at 3 PM Sunday. Burial Mt Calvary.
