St Benedict Degrees to Sixteen at Seventieth Commencement

Seventieth annual commencement exercises for St Benedict will be held on June 5. Students will receive degrees totaling sixteen in number. The event marks a milestone for the school and its graduates.

St Benedicts College to Hold 70th Commencement

The 70th annual commencement of St Benedicts college will occur Wednesday afternoon June 5 in the college gymnasium. Pather Damian Lavery will deliver the baccalaureate sermon, Rt Rev Patrick Metnerney will give the commencement address, and J Arthur Weber of Ellinwood is college valedictorian. Abbot Lambert Burton will receive the Doctor of Laws honorary degree. John E B Regan will receive a master’s degree and a large list of graduates will be named for bachelor degrees across several fields including sociology, philosophy, English, economics, and sociology at the Catholic college in this region.

Frank McKinney Dies After Nine-Year Illness Atchison Cigar Worker

Frank McKinney a 27-year Atchison resident and longtime Seitz Cigar Co. worker died at Atchison hospital after an operation revealed stomach sarcoma. He was born in Allentown Pa March 31 1876 and moved to Atchison 27 years ago with his mother. He survived by wife Kezia Redman and a brother Joseph of Leavenworth. funeral services set for Sunday.
