Landslide at Eagle Springs Buries Car and Garage

A landslide at Eagle Springs destroyed Dr. W. W. Simonson’s automobile and garage, with the hillside cut away as if sliced. The roof of the structure, timber and roof planks of oak, and tin and hollow tile cover were reduced to fragments though tires remained inflated. Local notes mention numerous dirt cave-ins this spring across eastern county, possibly due to excess soil moisture dissolving limestone, and speculate lightning strikes may have triggered the event. References to regional folks and places fill the column alongside scattered items from Atchison commerce and politics.
