Doniphan County Named Modified Accredited Area
Doniphan County has been designated as a modified accredited area after cattle tests show tuberculosis infection below the five tenths of one percent limit. Tests were conducted by county, state, or federal veterinarians with quarantines for reactors. Authority for the designation came from State Commissioner J H Mercer and was approved by US Department of Agriculture official J H Mohler. The status lasts three years from June 1, 1927, enabling farmers to obtain a 10 cent premium on hogs bred and fed in the county. certificates are available from county commissioners, farm agents, or local banks.

County urged to take over township highway to Atchison
Property owners along the Lancaster district petition the Atchison and Doniphan county boards to absorb a township road that would connect the Effingham road with state highway 20 in Doniphan county. If Doniphan agrees to extend state highway 20 to the county line, Atchison may approve the highway take over, linking it to the Huron Eden road and improving access north of the county line. Meanwhile, Atchison plans Lancaster Huron road grading with contracts likely to be awarded after the next board meeting.
