Pioneer F M Thompson 81 Dies After Fall In Storm
From Wednesday's Daily F M Thompson an Atchison county pioneer aged 81 died at his farm four miles west of Nortonville after slipping on dark cellar stairs during a late storm. He had lived in the county 44 years and on the Hickory Grove farm 43. Born October 3, 1847 in Ohio, he married Lena McCain in 1873 celebrating a golden anniversary five years ago. Survived by Lena, three children Myrtle, Hervey, and Mrs E M Cook, four grandchildren, and a sister Mrs Martha Baker of Creston Iowa. Funeral arrangements pending.

Willard Leason Killed Working on Power Line
Willard R. Leason 24 of 222 North Knox St was fatally injured at a Topeka Kansas Power and Light sub station when his foot slipped and he fell onto a high tension line. He died at a local hospital after resuscitation efforts failed. Leason, formerly of Atchison, is survived by his wife Elsie Dent Leason and his parents. He had worked for the utility for six years, two in Topeka, and recently bought a Topeka home. The incident prompted swift transport of his parents from Atchison and drew Atchison residents’ sympathy.
