Court halts school board plan to raze additions
Judge W A Jackson issued a temporary restraining order stopping the Atchison County Community High School district from tearing down two additions and from building new structures. The suit, filed by County Attorney Lawrence F. Day, argues the trustees acted without legal authority and would create an illegal tax by funding any new work with a four mill levy. Defendants include the district, county superintendent O F Barnard and several trustees. A hearing on a permanent order will set for later, with the court not in session today due to a legal holiday.
