William P. Shottenkirk a Lafayette township stock raiser and former auctioneer died at his home near the Washington Grove Christian church after a battle with diabetes and gangrene He was 55 years old He leaves wife Clara Belle Hogan two sons Guy of Oakland California and Daniel Lee at home and a sister Mrs Clara Dailey of Chana The funeral will be held Friday at 1 30 pm from his home and 2 pm at Washington Grove Church Rev Alexander English will officiate Burial is in Washington Grove Cemetery Guy Shottenkirk of Oakland California is traveling to attend.

Lee county grand jury adjourned Saturday with twelve indictments drawn including forgery burglary grand larceny and adultery. Arosin and Slater pleaded to grand larceny and received an indeterminate sentence at Joliet penitentiary. Court term expected to be busy with many cases to be tried.

Phillips Family Reunion Held At Willow Farm
The second Phillips family reunion was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. E. F. Chapman at Willow Farm on September 22 with over sixty guests. Train Strikes Car Near Shaw Station: No Injuries Reported
An automobile owned and driven by Michael Leffleman six miles west of Sublette was hit by an eastbound C B Q passenger train at Shaw station around 7 40 Friday morning. Occupants escaped unharmed though the car suffered heavy damage at the crossing where view of the tracks is obstructed.

The Western Section annual meeting of the Northern Illinois Teachers Association will be held in Dixon October 27 and 28. Lee County Fair Closes After Four Busy Days at Amboy
Lee county fair ends its second session in Amboy with record crowds and well‑packed exhibits. New sheds housed livestock while horse and cattle displays highlighted top stock. Machinery, exhibits of farm equipment, vehicles, and home goods drew plenty of sales. Races drew crowds including Ashton and Franklin Grove entries with fast times and popular events. Sunday notices from United Evangelical Church and a social gathering for Miss Mabel Jordan capped a busy closing.

Arm torn off in belt accident at Emerson Chapman farm
Jonas Stultz a Dixon well driller was crippled for life when his right arm was torn off above the elbow and left wrist dislocated in a belt driven well drilling accident on the Emerson Chapman farm. He was found unconscious and rushed home for care as neighbors helped remove him and medical aid arrived from Rochelle. He is about 55 and in serious condition with recovery doubtful due to shock.
